Allusion

Allusion In a literary context, an allusion is generally a passage in a work of art which makes mention of another work of art or some object within popular tradition. The allusion is supposed to evoke a specific reaction the audience. For instance, the composer Mahler was recognized for utilizing a somewhat “lowbrow” allusion in some places in their symphonies as a method of destabilizing the essential difference between high tradition and culture that is low.
